Marc Cucurella celebrated scoring his first ever Chelsea goal in this weekend’s cup tie against Leicester City.

Chelsea edged out Leicester by a 4-2 scoreline at Stamford Bridge in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final.

As a result, the Blues have sealed a return to Wembley Stadium next month, where they’ll face Manchester City in the tournament’s semi-finals. Incidentally, it’s Coventry City against Manchester United in the other semi.

Marc Cucurella, 25, started back-to-back games today as his recovery from injury keeps moving in the right direction.

In fact, the left-back’s eye-catching performance versus Leicester included his first goal in Chelsea colours.

He opened the scoring in a six-goal thriller with a simple tap in into an empty net, but the full-back showed a great appetite to fly into the penalty box and meet Nicolas Jackson’s cross.

Cucurella celebrated with an Instagram post after a goal and Chelsea win.

He received several responses in the comment section from teammates, including from Reece James. The Blues club captain joked with his teammate for “finally” scoring.

Marc Cucurella breaks goal duck against Leicester

We think Cucurella backed up a solid display at home to Newcastle United on Monday with another positive outing against Leicester.

GiveMeSport reported earlier this month that Chelsea are likely to sell Cucurella at the end of the season once the summer window opens. However, we wonder if the Spanish defender can change the club’s mind during the space of the next few months.

He’s slick in possession and does bring real energy on the pitch. Our one fear with him is he can sometimes be too rash, but overall he’s a solid option at full-back.

Now Ben Chilwell’s back from injury to compete for the left-back spot in the XI, we’re intrigued to see what happens after the international break.
