Collectively, it is quite clear that Chelsea have not performed this season.

They lost the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool despite the Reds not being at full strength and are currently in the bottom half of the table.

Chelsea are nowhere close to reaching their objective of qualifying for the Champions League.

Nevertheless, the club still look to be happy with their current attacking options and invested in one forward particularly.

Mauricio Pochettino has Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk, Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke all in his ranks.

The attacker who Chelsea are really invested in

Palmer is the main man in Chelsea’s attack right now, scoring more goals than any other player at Stamford Bridge, while Pochettino continues to put a lot of trust in Jackson.

The Blues opted against signing a new striker in January, leaving Jackson as the only recognised centre-forward in the squad.

At the same time, the club are really invested in Mudryk and are happy with their attack in general, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

He recently told GiveMeSport: “My understanding is that Chelsea are generally happy with the sort of versatile, attack-minded players that they’ve got. On that left side, they are obviously also invested in Mykhailo Mudryk as well.”

The winger sent Ukraine to Euro 2024 on Tuesday with a late goal, earning praise from team-mate Marc Cucurella as a result.

Mykhailo Mudryk could replace Raheem Sterling next season

Sterling has been Chelsea’s main option for the left flank this term, but his future in west London is currently in doubt.

He has been linked with a move to MLS, and any departure in the summer could see Mudryk handed a starting spot in the side.

The 23-year-old has only made nine starts in the Premier League under Pochettino but has two fewer goals than first-team regular Sterling.

Over the last 12 months, Mudryk has ranked in the 86th percentile for progressive carries among attacking midfielders and wingers (FBref). He can be quite a direct wide man down that left flank.
