One Chelsea youngster now looks as if he has been given a chance to impress the first team manager ahead of their return to Premier League action.

In photos released from their recent training session, one player who has never featured for the first team can be seen as part of the group working towards the Tottenham game on Thursday.

Mauricio Pochettino will be well aware just how important Thursday’s game is against their London rivals, who just so happen to be his former side.

Chelsea struggling with first team injuries

A plethora of injuries have had a real effect on his ability to pick a consistent side tasked with collecting three points, however the situation arguably reached its worst stage over the weekend against Aston Villa.

The Blues had just 11 fit senior outfield players, and the bench was packed with inexperienced youngsters eager to make their name if called upon.

One of those who was not present was Dujuan Richards, with there being a lot of excitement over what he can potentially do for the club since joining.

The 18-year-old has settled very nicely into the youth sides at Cobham, finding the net five times in eight games in Premier League 2.

The young attacker already has a number of strong relationships with first team players, with him admitting that he gets on well with Noni Madueke.

He also stated in the past that he received a message from Raheem Sterling before joining the club, and now he has had another opportunity to feature alongside both of them in first team training.

It remains to be seen whether the Jamaican will be part of the squad who are named by Pochettino to take on Spurs, with Stamford Bridge likely to be expecting a win against one of their most hated opponents.

There may be an argument to suggest the Blues should make some changes to their last side that started against Aston Villa, and this could see a younger star such as Cesare Casadei a chance to start.
