Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has a goal for the summer.

It has not been a great season for Enzo Fernandez, who is currently out injured.

Before his injury, Chelsea were really struggling in the Premier League, finding themselves outside of the European football places.

Fernandez has also lost a cup final and, of course, had to undergo surgery because of a groin problem.

However, with international tournaments to play in the summer, the midfielder can end the season on a positive note. His manager Mauricio Pochettino thinks he can get into any team in the world.

Chelsea could have decision to make with Enzo Fernandez

One international tournament that is coming up is the Olympics.

Fernandez has made it clear that he would like to represent Argentina but says the decision will come down to Chelsea and Javier Mascherano.

Speaking to D Sports, the 23-year-old said: “I have the possibility of going and I would love to go to the Olympic Games. It is Chelsea’s decision, and I haven’t talked about it yet.

“I will respect the decision of Javier Mascherano, who is the coach, and after that we will talk about it.”

Should Chelsea allow Enzo Fernandez to compete at the Olympics?

Fernandez has played a lot of football this season and is recovering from a hernia issue.

In total, the former Benfica star has made 40 appearances for Chelsea.

He has also played for Argentina during this campaign and is likely to earn more caps for them at this year’s Copa America.

Add the Olympic Games in France, and Fernandez could be one very tired player when he returns to Chelsea.

Ultimately, while Fernandez clearly wants to represent his country at the Olympics, Chelsea really should think twice before allowing him to go.

They started this season poorly, losing their second game 3-1 against West Ham United, and will want to avoid a repeat of that next term. They need all of their best players fit and available to increase their chances of doing that.
