Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has admitted that he looked up to one player from Premier League rivals Chelsea growing up.

Jeremy Doku was speaking before Manchester City’s FA Cup final against Manchester United.

The 21-year-old was able to make an impact at Wembley on Saturday, causing Aaron Wan-Bissaka havoc and scoring a goal for his side after coming on.

However, his strike only proved to be a consolation, as United went on to win the match 2-1.

As a result, Chelsea have now dropped down to the Europa Conference League.

Jeremy Doku on Chelsea legend

Chelsea have had a lot of great attackers down the years.

Unsurprisingly, though, Doku’s compatriot, Eden Hazard, is the man the Belgian looked up to growing up.

Speaking to SPORTbible about the Premier League and Hazard before the FA Cup final, Doku said: “Any games we [his family] couldn’t watch live, we’d always watch on Match of the Day. That’s when I really fell in love with the Premier League.

“I enjoyed having the opportunity to see players on the pitch that you wouldn’t always get to watch very often. The show also played a big part in me deciding to join the Premier League, as it always kept me inspired growing up.”

On Hazard, he said: “Eden Hazard inspired me and now I can say I’ve had the opportunity to play with him.”

Eden Hazard an inspiration for all young wingers

Hazard is the kind of wide man all young wingers should be trying to imitate.

The former Chelsea and Real Madrid star was the complete attacker during his playing days. He could score goals, create them and was, of course, an outstanding dribbler.

In total, Hazard scored 110 goals in 352 appearances for the Blues. With that kind of attacking threat, Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea would have easily finished in the top four.

Cole Palmer is probably the closest thing the club now have to Hazard. He was also very dangerous from the flank this season.

In the 33 Premier League appearances Palmer made for Chelsea, the England international scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists.
