Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed he finally has one Chelsea player available for selection again after plenty of time on the sidelines.

He claimed in his pre-match press conference that Robert Sanchez was available for selection again ahead of the trip to face Manchester City tomorrow.

Sanchez has not featured for the Blues since December, when he was forced off due to injury in the game against Everton.

He was replaced that day by Djordje Petrovic, who was making his debut for the club. While he couldn’t make an impact at Goodison Park, he has been a revelation between the sticks at Stamford Bridge.

While his kicking has not particularly been too impressive, his shot stopping has been what has really caught the eye of many.

This has left a lot of people believing even when the Spaniard is fit again that the 24-year-old should remain between the sticks for the forseeable future.

Sanchez fit again

Pochettino however has hinted that there is going to be a process of both goalkeepers starting a string of games while they are both fit.

He said: “Robert Sanchez is available. It’s a good thing for the team. You will see [the selection between him and Petrovic]. It’s very good to be back. It’s better to have all the players available.”

Rotation is always key for a side who are seeing fixtures coming thick and fast in three competitions, however goalkeeper may be the only role where this is not the case.

Getting someone feeling comfortable in the role is crucial for the defence in front of them, and therefore a decision should be made and stuck to by the manager.
