One Manchester City player has been speaking about his former teammate, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

Cole Palmer left Manchester City for Chelsea last summer and has not looked back since.

He was arguably the best player in the Premier League last season, coming up with 33 goal contributions in 33 games for the Blues.

He is now making an impact for England on the international stage.

It was Palmer who set up Ollie Watkins’ winning goal on Wednesday night, which has taken the Three Lions to the Euro 2024 final, where they will play Spain.

One of Palmer’s Chelsea teammates was confident that he could make an impact in the semi-finals. Romeo Lavia posted “Cole’s Time” on X when the attacker was brought on.

Luke Mbete impressed with Cole Palmer

In total, Palmer scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in all competitions for Chelsea last season.

That did not go under the radar, with City defender Luke Mbete praising the England international in a recent interview.

Mbete and Palmer played with each other in City’s academy, and the former has said that he is so proud of the latter.

Speaking to talkSPORT about Palmer, Mbete said: “Very proud. Obviously, he went on to make his name and he’s done so well. And yeah, I’m proud of him. I hope he goes on to win the trophy with England.”

Can Cole Palmer and England win Euro 2024?

Player for player, England have probably had the best team in the tournament.

Their attack is exceptional, with it consisting of Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka and Phil Foden.

It is why Palmer has had to settle for a spot on the bench.

Ultimately, England have enough quality to beat this Spain side. However, they are also a very strong team who have a very good attack as well.

The likes of Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal will cause Gareth Southgate’s men problems. But it is a game that the Three Lions can win, especially when they have Palmer and Watkins to bring on from off the bench.
