Real Madrid complete Jude Bellingham transfer – Real Madrid have announced they have completed the transfer of Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old joins the European giants following a hugely successful stint at Borussia Dortmund.
Bellingham has signed a six-year deal with the Spanish giants.
Dortmund have confirmed that Real Madrid will pay an initial 103million euros (£88.5m) fee, with numerous add-ons set to take the deal to £115m.
That will make him the most expensive British player in history.
Bellingham will officially be presented as a Los Blancos player in a presentation on Thursday morning at 11am.
In a statement, Madrid said: “Real Madrid CF and Borussia Dortmund have agreed on the transfer of the player Jude Bellingham, who will remain linked to our club for the next six seasons.
“Tomorrow, Thursday, June 15, at 12:00 noon at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Jude Bellingham as a new Real Madrid player will take place. Next, Jude Bellingham will appear before the media.”
Even before the beginning of the World Cup in December, Bellingham had been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool while Manchester City were also said to be in the race for the midfielder.
Bellingham arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu as one of the most exciting prospects in world football, and the most expensive British player ever.
Jack Grealish’s £100million move to City in 2021 had him at top spot but he has now been overtaken just two years later.
Bellingham has already played so much senior football at such a young age and leaves Dortmund with 132 appearances to his name.
“Thank you to everyone at BVB and to the fans for everything over the past three years,” he said in a farewell statement on the Dortmund website.
“It’s been an honour to wear your jersey so many times, in big and small moments. Even though I look forward to my next destination, I will never forget the journey there. Once Borussia always Borussia. All the best for the future.”
Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke added: “We thank Jude for three years of passion for Borussia Dortmund. It was a fantastic time together.
“We would also like to thank Real Madrid for the always fair and constructive discussions.”
Bellingham has joined a select group of British players in signing for Real Madrid, following in the footsteps of Laurie Cunningham, Steve McManaman, David Beckham, Michael Owen, Jonathan Woodgate and Gareth Bale.
He has played 24 times for England and scored his first senior international goal in their World Cup win over Iran.
But he is absent from the squad to face Malta and North Macedonia in the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers due to injury.
