Aston Villa supporters have lauded their wonderkid Jacob Ramsey after his sublime effort for England under-21s.
The midfielder was named in the starting XI for the young Lions’ side for their European under-21 Championship clash with Czech Republic on Thursday evening and made quite an impression with the first goal in a 2-0 win.
Describing the goal on talkSPORT 2 commentary, David Nugent said: “It’s unbelievable play again.
“Down the left side, this time from Max Aarons and he gives the ball to Ramsey – it’s all about Ramsey and Anthony Gordon linking up and that nice little flick from Gordon back inside.
“Ramsey is composed enough to have one or two-touch finishes, he just puts it past the goalkeeper in the left-hand side into the bottom corner. That’s the Ramsey that we missed in the first half.
“We didn’t really see much from England in the first half, but that’s the player we’ve seen at Villa coming in from the left and getting a shot on target. What a finish.”
The 22-year-old went into the tournament on the back of a wonderful season with Aston Villa in which he scored six goals and bagged eight assists in 38 matches.
After Ramsey helped Villa into the Europa Conference League this term, supporters of the club were not surprised to see him stealing the show.
Taking to social media, one fan wrote: “What a player he is,” while another said: “He is a baller.”
Another wrote: “The best youngster about.”
One more called him ‘starboy,” while another gave him the ultimate compliment, saying: “He’s better than Jude [Bellingham] in my books.”
