G Herbo

G Herbo has chosen to plead guilty in Massachusetts for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and making a false statement to a federal official, as reported by the Chicago Tribune and The Republican.

As part of the deal, two severe charges of identity theft will be dropped. The rapper is scheduled to enter his guilty plea in court later this month, and he may face a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Pitchfork reached out to G Herbo’s lawyer, James W. Lawson, to hear his thoughts on the plea deal.

In 2020, G Herbo and five other men faced charges in a federal grand jury indictment for participating in a fraudulent scheme.

The indictment alleged that they used stolen payment and credit card information to buy private jet charters, luxury car rentals, designer puppies, and other items.

G Herbo’s management stated that he claimed innocence and was eager to prove it in court when the indictment was made public.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and even addressed them in his song “Statement.” However, he was later charged with making a false statement to a federal official.

According to Rolling Stones, G Herbo has agreed to plead guilty to wire fraud and lying to federal agents after being accused in a fraud case by a federal grand jury in Massachusetts in 2020.

Herbo and five others, including Antonio Strong, were accused of using stolen identities to make fraudulent charges amounting to around $1.5 million. The charges included private jet trips, a vacation in Jamaica, and buying expensive puppies. The case was charged in Massachusetts because one of the private airline owners involved is based in the state.

Although the plea deal still needs approval from the judge, G Herbo is expected to formally plead guilty in July. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison, but court records suggest he might get a lower sentence or probation.
