US authorities today raided multiple homes owned by Sean Combs, the rapper and mogul known as Diddy, as part of an ongoing sex trafficking investigation, sources said.

The two law enforcement officials who spoke to the Associated Press said the searches were connected to a sex trafficking investigation by federal authorities in New York.

It’s not clear whether Combs was the target of the investigation.

The officials were not authorised to publicly discuss details of the investigation and spoke to The AP on condition of anonymity.

Heavily armed Homeland Security agents swarmed Combs’ sprawling white mansion in the affluent neighbourhood of Holmby Hills in Los Angeles and a home located in Miami’s Star Island.

Local media reported law enforcement searching the LA mansion, with two helicopters flying overhead.

A man was seen being led away in handcuffs by agents.

The reason for the raids are unclear, but Combs has recently been associated with legal troubles over alleged sexual assaults and sex trafficking.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the raids in a statement, saying that “Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) New York executed law enforcement actions as part of an ongoing investigation, with assistance from HSI Los Angeles, HSI Miami, and our local law enforcement partners”.

The department said it would “provide further information as it becomes available”.

Combs is a rapper, producer and entertainment mogul who has won three Grammys.
