According to Mystateline Chicago Woman Arrested for Rockford Car Salesman’s Murder – Rosie Chavez, a 46-year-old woman from Berwyn, Illinois, has been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping in the death of Crisoforo Osorio-Gonzalez, a 36-year-old Rockford car salesman. The incident unfolded on February 9, 2024, when Chavez and an accomplice arrived at 21st Auto Sales in Rockford, driving a stolen Kia. They were joined by a second accomplice in a stolen Honda.
The group then kidnapped Osorio-Gonzalez during a test drive in a red Ford Escape, with Osorio-Gonzalez riding in the back. The Ford Escape crashed into a sign at the entrance ramp to Highway 20, and Osorio-Gonzalez was found lying motionless on the side of the road. Chavez and the accomplices placed Osorio-Gonzalez in the Honda’s trunk and sped off.
Eight hours later, surveillance video showed Chavez and the first accomplice removing Osorio-Gonzalez’s body from the trunk. He had been shot in the head and back, and his wrists showed marks consistent with being zip-tied. The stolen Kia was later found abandoned at the Rockford dealership, with evidence inside linking it to the crime, including a credit card belonging to the accomplice and shell casings from the firearm used to kill Osorio-Gonzalez.

Chavez was on pretrial release for two criminal cases at the time of the murder, one involving felony aggravated battery of a police officer and retail theft. She was arrested last week and appeared for her detention hearing on Sunday, March 31st. Chavez has a criminal history, including previous convictions for robbery in 1998 and retail thefts in 2010 and 2014. She has worked as an accountant for a relative’s income tax firm.
The case has garnered attention and support from the community, with an online fundraiser created to cover the costs of a funeral for Osorio-Gonzalez. The fundraiser had raised a little more than $3,600 of the $15,000 goal by Sunday evening, highlighting the community’s devastation by the loss of Osorio-Gonzalez and the desire to honor his memory.
The investigation into the murder and kidnapping of Osorio-Gonzalez has been meticulous, with surveillance video and forensic evidence playing crucial roles in linking Chavez and her accomplices to the crime.
