• Lucy Letby fans will protest outside her appeal hearing on April 25 in London

Deluded supporters of evil nurse Lucy Letby have parked fury with the latest step in their bid to try and free the evil murderer.

Campaigners who back 34-year-old Letby – Britain’s most prolific baby killer – are plotting to hold a sick rally during her appeal hearing in less than a fortnight on Thursday, April 25 outside the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

Letby’s supporters plan to hold placards which claim that she is in fact a victim of a miscarriage of justice – and are reportedly hoping to get inside the court by booking spectator seats.

‘It is hard to think of anything more grotesque and offensive than this planned protest,’ a source connected with the case told the Mirror.

They said that even though everyone has the right the challenge decisions made by the courts, the possibility the protests could dredge up ‘what happened in this most public way is abhorrent’.

The source told the Mirror that they hoped protesters would ‘come to their senses’ and let the courts play their role.

Pro-Letby protesters are planning a protest as she is expected to appear via video link to the court.

The killer nurse’s supporters made their plans in a closed Facebook group, seen by the Mirror.

One member of the group said they should take placards to the appeal hearing and reassured others that nothing prevents them from protesting outside the court.

Another fan of Letby’s said the plan was a ‘brilliant idea’ in the campaign to ‘free Lucy’.

One of the serial killer’s supporters urged the others to apply for spaces in the court which are open to the public in advance ‘ASAP’.

Letby, of Hereford, launched her appeal shortly after High Court Judge Mr Justice Goss in August last year sentenced her to 14 whole life orders for the seven murders of seven babies and seven attempted murders, relating to six more.

She committed the horrific atrocities while employed as a nurse on the neonatal unit of the Countess of Chester Hospital – where she worked between June 2015 and June 2016.

The jury failed to reach verdicts on six attempted murder charges, relating to four infants, and last month prosecutors confirmed they were pursuing a retrial in June on one of the counts, relating to a premature baby girl, Baby K.

The former nurse had an initial bid to challenge her convictions refused by a judge without a hearing in January.

Letby is appealing against all of her convictions. The appeal will be heard in April.

If judges decline to give permission in April, it will mark the end of the appeal process for Letby. If she does receive permission, then the appeal will be heard at a separate hearing at a later date.
