The documentary series will also cast light on a ‘fierce feud between two top students for the title of valedictorian that results in a shocking act of violence in the middle of Economics class’, as well as a complicated case of how ‘one woman’s lie around her own pregnancy motivates a twisted kidnapping case with a horrifying conclusion’.

‘From cutthroat competition to pangs of jealousy and cruel gossip, each episode will dig deeper into what pushed these mean girls to murder,’ the synopsis reads.

Episode one In Deadly Harmony centers around the gruesome 2012 murder of a mom from Humble, Texas, who was found stabbed to death in bed in her family home and the sexual relationship which was uncovered between the victim’s daughter Keri, and her mom’s killer.

Mary Ann Murphy, 48, was attacked in her home at around 1 a.m. on July 15, with her attacker breaking in and stabbing her over 70 times.

Murphy’s 16-year-old daughter, Keri, initially told neighbors and police two men had broken in and attacked her mom before fleeing the scene.

However, by the time help arrived her mother had died from her wounds.

‘[Mary Ann was stabbed] on her legs, on her arms, hands, neck, in the face,’ Craig Clopton, a former investigator at the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, in an episode of Killer Couples in 2018.  ‘It was obvious that it was a very brutal attack.’

‘She said her mom was screaming loud, and I did think I heard a scream but I didn’t know for sure,’ their neighbor Marcus Cox said at the time, the morning after the murder. ‘I just thought it was some kids down the street.’

It was just days before detectives realized Kerri’s story was fabricated, with investigators becoming suspicious after noticing the blood has coagulated- indicating Keri may have waited longer to call the police than she said.

Keri confessed she enlisted Ahmed’s help to murder her mom and she didn’t approve of the age difference between her daughter and Keller, but it wasn’t long until they realized something wasn’t right.

Investigators looked into phone records for burner phone found in the family home and finding she had managed to continue talking to Keller after her mom had banned her using the phone, and they had been in constant communication the night of the murder.

‘Keri was googling ‘what’s the quickest way to kill somebody?’ Clopton said. ‘Those Google searches were at the same time she’s talking on the phone with Rebecca. So I know that they are scheming this together.’

Keller, 20, was arrested and charged with murder – as well as sexual assault of a child, as she was in a sexual relationship with 16-year-old Kerri at the time.
