Man and woman are charged with murdering one-year-old baby boy during Covid lockdown

  • Jack Benham, 34, of Hernhill, and Sian Hedges, 26, of Yelverton, are charged 
  • The baby was found at an address near Faversham, Kent, on November 28, 2020

Police have charged two people with murder following the death of a one-year-old baby boy during the Covid lockdown. 

Paramedics and police were scrambled to an address in Hernhill, near Faversham, Kent, on November 28, 2020, following concerns for the welfare of the infant. 

The tot was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment but was pronounced dead later.  

Police arrested a man and a women in connection with the incident the same day.

Both were later released on police bail while an investigation by the serious crime unit was carried out. 

And on Monday, Kent Police announced that Jack Benham, 34, of Hernhill, and Sian Hedges, 26, of Yelverton, Devon, had been charged with murder.

The alleged killers have been remanded in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday.
