A cross-city police chase in Adelaide came to an end when officers spiked the tyres of an allegedly stolen Ford Ranger in a car park.

The police helicopter tracked from above as the man drove through the city's west and into the northern suburbs.

Police said the man unsuccessfully tried to lose them in the car park of a Coles distribution centre at Edinburgh.

A cross-city police chase in Adelaide's north. came to an end with officers spiking the tyres of a stolen Ford Ranger in a car park.

When the ute was stopped, police swooped on the 43-year-old driver.

The vehicle that had metal jammed across the windscreen was searched. 

He is now facing a range of driving and drug charges.
