Police are investigating after a man exposed himself before assaulting an elderly woman in Melbourne’s inner suburbs.
Detectives believe the offender waited for the woman to enter a lift on Simmons Street in South Yarra before he exposed himself about 2pm on April 1.
The offender followed the woman out of the lift to another floor of the building, before he sexually assaulted her, police say.
The offender fled the scene on foot.
Police described the offender as being of Asian appearance, in his mid-20’s about 180cm tall with short shaved black hair and unkempt facial hair.
He was last seen wearing a black hooded jumper with the word ‘Jordan’ written on the back along with black pants and black sneakers.
Investigators have released footage of a man they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
