Three Irish nationals have been charged following dozens of alleged burglaries across Melbourne within the past year.

The trio were arrested at the Holiday Inn at Melbourne Aiport this morning allegedly before they fled the country.

Police allege the three men, who entered Australia in the last six months, stole more than $1 million of property, including cash, jewellery and designer handbags.

Detectives allege the men are allegedly responsible for over 60 home burglaries across Blackburn, Doncaster, Narre Warren, Hampton Park Narre Warren and Templestowe since January.

It’s understood the burglaries occurred while residents were away from their homes.

Police allege the trio used cleaning products in an attempt to cover their tracks.

9News understands these men are part of a broader network of fly in fly out burglars.

Sources have told 9News that once the offenders in these syndicates serve time, they are deported to the UK before their identities are changed so they can fly back into Australia.

A 24-year-old man, a 25-year-old man and a 19-year-old man all with no fixed address have been charged with numerous offences including aggravated home invasion.

All three men were remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Three other Irish nationals, who police will allege are part of the same syndicate, were arrested on March 18 in connection to home burglaries in Sunshine and Mill Park between January and March this year.

Investigators recovered more than $380,000 cash and designer jewellery which was allegedly stolen during from these two properties.

A 35-year-old man, a 28-year-old man, and a 21-year-old man all with no fixed address were charged at the time.
