An urgent search has been launched for a missing 12-year-old boy in Sydney.

Tyrell Simpson-Rodger, 12, was last seen riding a bike along Yorktown Parade, Maroubra, on Friday at about 4pm. 

Family notified officers at Eastern Beaches Police Area Command when he was unable to be located. 

Tyrell is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 125cm tall, of thin build, with blond hair and green/blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a green school uniform shirt, black shorts and shoes and carrying a black backpack.

The 12-year-old is known to frequent the Glebe, Eastgardens and Maroubra areas.  

Tyrell’s family, along with police, hold serious concerns for his welfare. 

Police are urging anyone with information into his whereabouts to contact local police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
