A 93-year-old pedestrian has died in hospital after a collision with a pick-up truck in Scotland this morning.

Police were called to the junction of Gray Street and Brook Street in Broughty Ferry, Dundee around 11.35am today after a crash involving a Ford Ranger and pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment, where she died from her injuries. The victim’s name has not been released, but Police Scotland said that her family has been notified.

The driver of the truck was unharmed in the incident, which saw the road closed while authorities carried out their investigation. It has since reopened.

Police have now launched an appeal witnesses, as well as occupants of a blue Audi A3 that was travelling on the opposite roadway at the time of the collision, to come forward.

Sergeant Gordon Dickson said in a statement today: ‘Our enquiries so far have established a blue Audi A3 car was travelling on the opposite roadway which passed at the time the incident occurred and I would ask the occupants of that car to contact us their information could aid in our investigation.

‘I would also ask any other members of the public or motorists who were in the area at the time to get in touch with us with any information they may have, even if it doesn’t seem significant, let us be the judge of that.’

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1330 of Saturday, 24 February, 2024.
