Explosion rocks Richmond in inner city Melbourne with a worker rushed to hospital 

A worker is in hospital after a crane hit a power pole, triggering an explosion in inner Melbourne.

The incident happened at 8.20am on Friday in Richmond, east of the CBD.

Fire Rescue Victoria said the crane operator was treated by paramedics at the scene.

The man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was taken to a local hospital in a stable condition.

WorkSafe is investigating the incident.
