The longtime General Hospital actress Robyn Bernard has died at the age of 64.

Bernard was found deceased in San Jacinto, California, on Tuesday, TMZ reported on Wednesday.

The television star had a variety of small parts throughout the 1980s and ’90s, but she is best remembered for her years-long stint on the popular soap opera General Hospital, in which she played the character Terry Brock.

Authorities found Bernard’s body in an open field located behind a business while responding to a death investigation call, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department noted in a report, via Deadline.

According to the Riverside County Coroner, the body was identified via fingerprints after deputies discovered it in the early morning hours.

Bernard’s cause of death has not yet been determined, the coroner added.

Authorities are set to perform an autopsy on her body today, though the results of a full toxicology will not be available for several more weeks.

Bernard first got her break in television in the 1980s when she had occasional guest roles on shows including The Facts Of Life, Simon & Simon and Whiz Kids.

They led up to her biggest role as Terry Brock, the daughter of one of the show’s villain’s during that period, D.L. Brock (portrayed by David Groh).

She appeared regularly on the show for 145 episodes over six years, before moving on in 1990.

Bernard was featured in a major murder-mystery plot during his time on the series, in which her character was misled into believing she had stabbed a man to death before several more people turned up dead.

The storyline dug into her characters origins and climaxed with a manhunt filmed on location on Southern California’s Catalina Island — a rarity for a soap opera — according to TVLine.

Her character’s stint ended when Terry got a recording contract and moved away.

Bernard was born in Gladewater, Texas, on May 26, 1959. She was the older sister of another future performer, the singer and actress Crystal Bernard, who starred on the long-running comedy Wings.

In addition to early TV appearances in the US, she appeared in several feature films, but exclusively in French productions.

Bernard had small roles in several films directed by the late Jean-Jacques Beineix, including Diva (1981), his 1986 international hit Betty Blue and 1989’s Roselyne And The Lions.

Betty Blue would go on to secure nominations for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film and a Bafta.

She was also featured in a 1992 episode of the French-language version of Maigret — not to be confused with the British series of the same name that ran concurrently and was also about the eponymous detective — as well as the 1997 French film Kings For A Day, which was directed by François Velle.

Bernard kept a low profile in her later years, and her acting appearances grew rarer and rarer. Her final credit is in the 2002 direct-to-video adaptation of the play Voices From The High School.
