‘I think he’s down, get the officer!’: Harrowing bodycam footage shows cops in shootout with Louisville gunman after he hit newly-graduated officer in the head following attack that left five bank staff dead
Dramatic body camera footage shows the moment a 25-year-old disgruntled employee opened fire on a rookie cop.
Police released over six minutes of body camera footage from the shooting at the Old National Bank at a news conference on Tuesday, detailing the Louisville Metro Police Department’s quick response to the massacre.
The video focuses on the interactions between police and the shooter, Connor Sturgeon, after he started firing an unknown number of rounds Monday morning. He was seen pointing his gun directly at rookie officer Nicholas Wilt.
He was said to have been suicidal and was seen waiting for police to arrive in a livestream of the attack he posted on Instagram.
Sturgeon was pronounced dead at the scene, but only after killing five people and injuring eight others.

The footage released on Tuesday shows the officers bravely pulling up to the scene of the Old National Bank as gunshots could be heard.
Officer Wilt, who was just 10 days into his job on the police force, immediately ran up the stairs outside the bank.
But, as another officer could be heard saying in the body camera footage, ‘The shooter has an angle on that officer.’
Officer Galloway continued to say he could not see Sturgeon inside the building because the glass was blocking his angle.
After just a few moments, Galloway could be heard screaming, ‘I think he’s down, get the officer.’
Officials said at a news that nobody else was shot after police arrived on the scene at around 8.41am Monday.
