Homes evacuated after man dies – as police and paramedics race to housing estate and ‘gas engineers visit scene’

Homes have been evacuated in Manchester after a man died in a property – as gas engineers, police and an ambulance have all raced to a housing estate. 

Emergency services were called to the scene in May Walk, Partington just before 10.30am after an ‘incident involving a property’. 

However, the man was declared dead at the scene. Details of the incident are as of yet unclear but it is not being treated as suspicious, police said. 

As of lunchtime on Sunday, Firefighters had been at the scene for two hours and a number of properties had been evacuated. 

Gas engineers are also still at the scene, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The man’s family have been notified and are being supported by officers.

In a statement Greater Manchester Police told MailOnline: ‘GMP are currently in attendance to an incident in May Walk, Partington.

‘Sadly, despite best efforts of emergency services, a man has been pronounced deceased at the scene.

‘His family are aware and are being supported. A cordon remains in place.

‘The death is being treated as non-suspicious.’
