The parents of ‘Baby Lucky’ previously launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to pay for an ‘eco hotel’ in Mexico, Daily Mail Australia can exclusively reveal.

Honey and Pan Ahimsa attempted to raise $US10,000 for a ‘non-profit vegan restaurant, boutique eco hotel and tattoo studio’ in Tulum, Mexico, in early 2020.

They allegedly offered incentives to encourage donations, including free stays, breakfasts and yoga classes but the project was never completed.

The couple’s then seven-week-old newborn was flown from Bali to the Gold Coast for life-saving surgery in February after generous Aussies donated almost $200,000 on the back of a highly-emotional publicity campaign in Australian media.

However, eyebrows have been raised after the family returned to Bali last week where they are renovating a property.

The couple’s Mexico fundraising efforts – which were also billed as a project to help under-privileged and orphaned children in Mexico – are believed to have raised about half the $US10,000 target.

However, after the project was abandoned, all traces of it were wiped from the internet. Ms Ahimsa claimed she had explained its disappearance on her Instagram page at the time.

Daily Mail Australia last week exclusively revealed the Ahimsa family had flown back to Bali where they are renovating a villa

She told Daily Mail Australia she and her husband shut down the Tulum venture because of the coronavirus pandemic.

‘The project in Tulum was cancelled because of Covid and the world went into complete shutdown for two years,’ she said.

‘We made the decision to return to Australia with our son as this was the safest decision with a child during a global pandemic.

‘The intention was to help orphans as I lost both of my parents (I was taken away from my mother at age eight after experiencing things no child should and my father was hit by a truck and killed when I was 18).’

Ms Ahimsa added: ‘The project in Tulum fell through and the GoFundMe was deleted.

‘We did not raise even half of that GoFundMe goal. Most of the donations were made by my partner’s mother who donated over 80 per cent of what was raised.’

Ms Ahimsa did not address questions about what happened to the rest of the money.

This publication is making no suggestion that the money from the baby Lucky GoFundMe was misappropriated or that her illness was not immensely serious.

Ms Ahimsa, whose birth name was Rachael Eti, previously told Daily Mail Australia that ‘no money from the Lucky Love GoFundMe was used for anything other than what was mentioned on the GoFundMe page’.

She insisted that their new home in Bali is a rental and they are only paying $83 a week.

But she has allegedly told close friends that she paid $50,000 for a 30-year lease on the property.

Ms Ahimsa did not directly address the $50k claim when questioned by Daily Mail Australia.

Instead, she said her and her husband were planning to launch an ‘an affordable online course sharing every single step of renting/renovating in Bali for anyone wanting to do the same’.

Following the failure of the Mexico project in 2020, the couple and their young son later travelled to Canada where Pan, whose original name is Graham White, was raised.

Later that year, they converted a school bus to tour the US before travelling on to Greece.

It comes as a close friend and spokeswoman for the family distanced herself from Ms Ahimsa and her partner following the revelations they moved back to Bali to renovate a house.

Bailey Scarlett, an OnlyFans model and actress who acted as a de facto media spokesperson for baby Lucky’s parents, released a statement on Monday claiming she only acted in ‘good faith’ when pushing the family’s fundraiser

‘I was never associated with these people prior, I simply rushed down to the hospital to help complete strangers as I felt for them as a mother myself,’ she wrote on an Instagram story.
