Miami plastic surgeon is accused of injecting blood contaminated with PLASTIC into liposuction patient – but denies it happened and says patient was disgruntled because she did not get a refund for failed BBL

A Miami plastic surgeon has been accused of injecting a patient with blood contaminated with pea-sized plastic beads – but insisted that he had done no wrong, and the plaintiff was a disgruntled customer with a grudge.

Karl William Schwarz operated on the 34-year-old woman at 305 Plastic Surgery in January 2021.

She had already had a Brazilian Butt Lift and liposuction at the clinic, with a different surgeon, in 2019.

She went to Schwarz for another round of the same treatments.

Schwarz’s attorney, Gregory Chaires, said the surgeon asked her before the operation if she had received any implants or injections, and she said no.

Schwarz also made her sign a disclaimer, he said, which warned that, if any foreign objects were found inside her during the liposuction, they would not then be able to move that material to her rear for the butt lift as it could cause long-term problems.

‘During the preoperative evaluation, Dr. Schwarz asked the Patient if she had received the injection of foreign materials into her body, which the Patient denied,’ said Chaires.

Schwarz said that he began operating on her, only to find that her blood was contaminated with plastic, which blocked the cannula. 

He did not carry out the procedure that she wished.

Chaires said that the patient took legal action in January 2022 because she was angry at not getting a refund for the butt lift, which the surgeon was unable to perform.

She accused him of ‘substandard care’, and noted that in his report on the operation he said some of her blood had been injected into her buttocks.

Schwarz said that that was a misunderstanding from the person who took notes on the procedure.

The surgeon denied her allegations, but agreed to pay nearly $14,000 in fines and case fees in what his lawyer said was a bid to move on with his life.

The agreement includes a $7,500 fine, $6,196.11 in admin costs, three hours of medical record keeping training and five hours on risk management.

Chaires said Schwarz did not accept her accusations of wrongdoing.

‘Nevertheless, as Dr. Schwarz wishes to put this matter behind him so that he may return his complete focus to his patients and family, he has decided to enter into the proposed Settlement Agreement,’ he said.
