  • Harlow Darby Freeman, the 9-month-old thought to have been kidnapped in rural Alabama on Monday night, has been found alive-and-well
  • Officials said that it’s likely she was not kidnapped but rather the car she was in the back seat of rolled away from where she was left and landed in a ditch
  • Freeman is being examined at a children’s hospital in Birmingham where she is thought to be doing well

The missing nine-month-old Harlow Darby Freeman has been found alive-and-well inside of the car she was last seen in on Monday evening in the Alabama town of Parrish.

Freeman’s desperate mom, Bethany Smith, earlier  made a frantic plea to the thief to return her baby girl who was sitting in the back of her dad’s Lexus when she was last seen.

AL.com reports it’s ‘likely’ that the tot was never kidnapped and that the car she was in merely traveled hundreds of yards because it was not put in park by her father.

According to reports, Freeman is being examined at the Children’s of Alabama hospital in Birmingham and is said to be doing well. ‘Daylight was our friend on this one,’ Parrish police Chief Danny Woodard said. The chief confirmed that Freeman was found on the same street where she was last seen, Crest Avenue.

Chief Woodard said that during an early morning search of the area, police noticed the bumper of the Lexus in a patch of vines known as the kudzu.

‘This is not something that happens in a small town like Parrish. This is a strange turn of events. Luckily, the child was found safe and we’re going to continue to investigate,’ the chief said.
