‘Murder’ by university campus as police arrest suspect in his 40s after man died of ‘serious injury’
A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead inside a home in Cheltenham today.
Gloucestershire Police said they apprehended a man in his 40s after being called to the property on St Paul’s Road at around 1.30pm.
The alleged murder victim was said to have suffered a ‘serious injury’ and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The home, situated near the University of Gloucestershire’s Francis Close Hall Campus, remains cordoned off tonight.
Police said: ‘Despite the best efforts of those providing medical assistance at the scene, the man was pronounced deceased.
‘Officers are in the early stages of an investigation and are appealing for anyone who has not already spoken to police to make contact with them.
‘A man aged in his 40s and from Cheltenham has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the ongoing investigation and remains in police custody at this time.’
