A pedicab has ‘exploded’ outside Buckingham Palace with videos and pictures uploaded to social media showing firefighters extinguishing the flames.

Police were called to Spur Road, south-west London, at 12.43pm and have cordoned off the burnt out vehicle next to a pedestrian crossing.

A road closure is currently in place while the London Fire Brigade tend to the flames.

In videos posted to X, formerly Twitter, the pedicab is seen engulfed in flames and plumes of black smoke.  

In another video clouds of smoke can be seen behind a police van that was parked across the road to stop traffic as the incident was resolved.

A picture posted to X shows the charred cab as a firefighter puts out the fire.

The official cause of the incident is not yet known.

The Met police said: ‘At 12:43 on Saturday, 30 March police were informed of a pedicab on fire on Spur Road, SW1.

‘A road closure is in place while London Fire Brigade respond. 

‘No injuries were reported. The fire is not believed to be suspicious or deliberate.’

The London Fire Brigade have been contacted for comment.
