Sinead O’Connor’s heartbreaking final video: Star’s emotional clip about the toll her teenage son’s suicide took on her was posted days before she died aged 56

A heartbreaking video believed to be Sinead O’Connor‘s last before her death aged 56 was an emotional clip about the toll her teenage son’s suicide took on her. 

The footage, posted on July 9, shows the Irish singer discussing a difficult time as she talks to fans from inside her apartment. 

Today her ‘devastated’ family confirmed the mother-of-four passed away after years of mental health struggles. 

O’Connor’s death came after her son Shane, 17, took his life in January 2022 after he escaped hospital while on suicide watch.  

In possibly the last footage of her ever released, O’Connor reveals the effects Shane’s death had on her physically and mentally, saying: ‘I look like s*** either way, which is why I didn’t want to make a video.

‘But you know the way your kid unfortunately passing away – it isn’t good for one’s body, or soul to be fair.

‘But anyway look let’s not dwell on that,’ she added. 

The singer then gives fans a tour of her flat, saying: ‘Here’s my nice flat…there’s a bunch of flowers my friend gave me today. 

‘That’s all I can show you because the place is a s*******.’ 

O’Connor also gave viewers a view of her guitar hanging up on the wall and said she planned to use it to write ‘some tunes’. 

She captioned the video: ‘Hey, some folks been asking I make video to prove identity .. Now, I’ve been up all night listening to Hindu Aestheticism books on You Tube.’

In a statement, the musician's family said: 'It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Sinéad'

‘He was the love of my life, the lamp pf my soul. We were one soul in two halves. 

‘He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.’ 

The mother-of-four also posted a number of Spotify links to relatively sad and heart breaking songs, including one she dedicated to ‘all mothers of Suicided children’.

At the time of her death, O’Connor, who changed her name to Shuhada’ Sadaqat in 2018 when she converted to Islam, was thought to be spending her time between Co Roscommon, Ireland, and London
