Tim Scott defended Republicans’ record on race issues as he received a lecture from The View hosts and slammed them for ‘disgusting’ rhetoric about black children in America.
The 2024 presidential candidate and the only black GOP senator claimed that the show was cutting to commercial breaks every time he was making a good point.
His appearance followed co-host Joy Behar claiming that Scott wouldn’t be a Republican if he really understood race issues in the U.S.
‘One of the reasons why I’m on the show is because of the comments that were made, frankly, on the show – that the only way for a young African American kid to be successful in this country is to be the exception and not the rule,’ Scott lamented in his interview with The View on Monday morning.
‘That is a dangerous, offensive, disgusting message to send to our young people today – that the only way to succeed is by being the exception,’ he added.

Scott lamented that the show cut to commercials every time he was making a good point
It was hard throughout the appearance for Sen. Scott to finish a thought without being interrupted by one of the five co-hosts – four of whom were ready to go on the attack against him.
At one point, a producer walked out from behind the cameras to inform Scott that they had to break for commercials.
‘Go up and tell him, go tell him,’ Goldberg said to those behind the camera as they signaled her that they had to go to commercial.
‘Tell it from the mountain,’ Scott said as the producer walked up to him from off-camera and said: ‘We have to go to commercial, we’ll come back. You’re going to stick around.’
‘I think ya’ll have commercial breaks whenever I get on,’ the 2024 candidate quipped.
Scott wanted to share his message that it does not have to be the ‘exception to the rule’ for black people to be successful in America.
He noted the massive strides African Americans have made in his lifetime alone and noted the successful people in power that he knows today – adding former President Barack Obama and current Vice President Kamala Harris to that list.
‘What I’m suggesting is that the yesterday’s exception is today’s rule,’ he said.
Lead host Whoppi Goldberg reprimanded the audience when they started to boo at Scott for sharing his beliefs regarding teaching gender identity and sexual orientation in schools – and how Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has responded to that in his state.
Scott began to share his perspective agreeing with his competitor Gov. DeSantis on ‘protecting our kids from the indoctrination that’s happening in our culture today’ and saying his so-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law was a ‘step in the right direction.’
This line led to immediate jeers from the live studio audience – the majority of whom are liberal.
‘No, no, no, not here. I’m sorry, sir, do not boo,’ Goldberg said.

‘This is The View. We accept – we don’t have to believe everything people say but you cannot boo people here, please. You cannot do it,’ she said to the crowd before turning to Scott to say: ‘Please proceed.’
Scott’s main purpose of appearing on the show was to respond to messaging about African American communities in the U.S., and how he feels The View hosts were sending a bleak message to black and brown children that they have to be an exception to the rule to be successful in America.
He announced his appearance on the show over the weekend, after speaking out against host Joy Behar’s claim that he doesn’t understand racism as a black Republican.
Behar, however, usually takes off on Mondays so she was not able to face-down with Scott at The View table on Monday.
‘I’m going on The View on Monday because I think it’s time for a conservative with a backbone to look those ladies in the eyes and say you do not have to be an exception to succeed in America,’ he told an audience of Republicans while on the campaign trail in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday.
‘You can be the rule and succeed in America,’ he added. ‘You see, I scare the dickens out of the radical left and Joe Biden. Proof of my life destroys their lies.’
