  • Debate continues to swirl over trans women in lockers rooms, with one Arizona mom recently accusing a 72-year-old old trans woman of staring at her breasts

A transgender woman has been charged with three counts of indecent exposure at an Ohio YMCA, one of which included stripping naked while minors were present.

Darren Glines, 31, who has not undergone any transgender surgery but goes by Rachel, was accused of exposing their genitals to women in the Xenia YMCA on three separate occasions between 2021 and 2022, WHIO reports.

According to the criminal complaint, women at the YMCA ‘reported seeing a naked male in the female’s locker room,’ with one incident occurring while three minors were around.

Xenia City Council President Williams Urshcel said that one of the women who filed a complaint was allegedly informed by an employee at the YMCA that Glines identifies as a woman so she ‘shouldn’t be disturbed by this.’

Urschel recently recounted the story at a Greene County Tea Party meeting, with attendees audibly laughing.

The rest of the city council released a statement saying that Urshel’s comments were ‘his own,’ and that the charges filed against Glines were through the Xenia Police Division’s own investigation.

‘Neither the Xenia City Council, nor any member of the Council, had any part in the decision to file public indecency charges regarding the use of the YMCA’s locker rooms.’

The city added that it has no plans to bring charges against the YMCA.

The YMCA of Greater Dayton said in a statement that they would continue to comply with the law while also ensuring the privacy and safety of all members.

‘Under no circumstance will we investigate an individual’s birth identity and then assign individuals to locker rooms,’ the YMCA said. ‘That would be counter to the law, counter to respect for all people and it is not who or what we are as an organization.’

Local residents, however, have said they’re worried that allowing transgender women in the women’s locker room would risk the safety of children.

Kia Coates told WHIO: ‘I’m not judging nobody, that’s not my business, but that’s a family place.

‘It doesn’t make me feel comfortable or at a safe place.’

Another woman outside the YMCA told the local outlet: ‘Whatever gender you want to be, that’s fine, that’s your own personal taste or whatever. But you don’t have to involve our young people.

According to Xenia Municipal Court records, Glines is due to appear in court on February 6.
