Dominic Raab has resigned as Justice Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister after an independent investigation ruled he bullied civil service in a string of government departments.

The former Tory leadership contender quit following a day of agonising by the Prime minister Rishi Sunak over whether to sack him after he received Adam Tolley KC’s report.

It included eight formal complaints about his behaviour as foreign secretary, Brexit secretary and during his first stint as justice secretary.

But who is Dominic Raab’s wife, Erika Rey? Where is she from? How did the pair meet? How many children do they have?

MailOnline reveals everything you need to know about the couple’s relationship.

Who is Erika Rey?

Erika Rey previously worked in a marketing role, after finishing her studies. Through working in this field, she formerly worked as a marketing executive for Google.

However, she left the role in 2020.

In a 2019 interview with Newsnight, the Work and Pensions secretary at the time, Amber Rudd, appeared to take a swipe at the pair’s relationship

Miss Rudd said that instead of parading their partners, leadership candidates should be talking about policy.

‘Don’t wind me up just because it is all the men putting themselves forward at the moment,’ she said.

‘People have a different way of addressing this leadership issue. I don’t think we need to parade partners in the way that we have been seeing.’

Where is Erika Rey from?

Erika Rey is from Brazil, but Mr Raab almost blew his chances of a relationship with her before the couple began dating by mistakenly thinking she was from Argentina.

In a 2019 interview with The Times, she stated: ‘He actually made a big mistake.

‘It was a week after Brazil had knocked England out of the World Cup and he asked if I was from Argentina.

‘If you are from Brazil, that is bad.’

How did Dominic Raab meet his wife?

The Sunday Times reported that Erika Rey met Dominic Raab while studying in London as a marketing student, calling it ‘an instant attraction’.

The pair met while Dominic was working in the Foreign Office, after spotting each other at a party with friends.

‘It was an instant attraction. My best friend married his best friend as well, which is really nice’, she said.

Shortly after, the future Mrs Rey-Raab moved to Madrid, where the couple managed a long-distance relationship between the Spanish capital and London for a year.

Just two years after meeting, Dominic proposed on Christmas Eve in 2004 – but the date of their wedding remains unknown.

Does Dominic Raab have a family?

Dominic and Erika have two sons named, Peter and Joshua.

Peter – named after Dominic’s father – and Joshua, are able to speak both English and Portuguese.

The couple are reportedly split when it comes to footballing loyalties, with Rey revealing: ‘When the last World Cup came around, Peter said he was going to support 50-50, but he would support England in the first half of the competition.’

The family live together in Surrey.

Mr Raab had said he would quit his role in the Government if it upheld any of the complaints against him. And in his letter to the PM this morning he said it was ‘important to keep my word’.

But he also added: ‘Whilst I feel duty bound to accept the outcome of the inquiry, it dismissed all but two of the claims levelled against me.
