  • Princess of Wales’s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, 58, had a hair transplant last year

The Princess of Wales‘s uncle, Gary Goldsmith, confirmed last year that he’d had a £3,000 Harley Street hair transplant, and has now unveiled the results.

The 58-year-old businessman, who is the younger brother of Kate’s mother Carole Middleton, showed off his new look on a stroll in Central London this afternoon.

It comes seven months after he revealed that he had undergone the procedure, the second part of which he was due to have at the start of this year.

He told the Mail On Sunday at in August: ”Do you know what, f**k it, I’m coming out. I want the world to know. I just think too many people don’t really talk about it.

‘It’s good to be open. I didn’t want people to think I’m a pompous t***, I wanted to just be really honest about it.’

He also said that his doctors at the Wimpole Clinic had been keen to manage his expectations.

‘[The doctor] said: ‘”All right, let’s face facts here G, you’re trying to returf Wembley and all you’ve got is a couple of window boxes. But let’s see what we can do.”‘

He added that he had been unable to wash his hair for a week after the procedure in case the new tufts of hair were washed away.

The procedure, the cost of which starts at £3,000, involves removing hair follicles from the back of the head and inserting them into the front of the scalp.

Hair transplants have become increasingly popular as a treatment for pattern baldness among men and women in recent years.

Europeans saw a 234 per cent increase in interest in hair transplants between 2008 and 2019, according to statistics from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).
