Dando left Farthing’s Chiswick residence on April 26, 1999 and made the journey alone to her Fulham home. Although she had previously lived there, by this point she was attempting to sell it, rarely visiting.
At 11:32 Dando was assaulted with a gunshot as she arrived at the door, which was uncovered by neighbor Helen Dobble 14 minutes later. The police were called at 11:47 and Dando was rushed to the nearby Charing Cross Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 13:03 BST.
As Dando was preparing to insert her keys into the lock to open the front door of her Fulham apartment, she was snatched from behind.
Dando Face was almost at the top of the porch-steps when a hulking, white man in his forties, roughly six feet tall (183cm) grabbed her in one arm and hurled her to the ground.
Seconds later, a single gunshot was heard; the 9mm short caliber semi-automatic had been pressed up against Dando’s head and the cartridge had been altered to reduce its force.
