Mauricio Pochettino certainly looked to rotate his squad in the face of a tough match against Arsenal for Chelsea today.

A combination of injuries and the gruelling defeat in the FA Cup against Manchester City saw him consider his options for the Emirates today.

When it was revealed it was highly unlikely that Cole Palmer was going to play due to illness, questions immediately turned to who would be able to best fill the void he was going to leave.

Carney Chukwuemeka not picked by Mauricio Pochettino

Some believed the best option would be to start Carney Chukwuemeka, who has seen his opportunities limited since returning from injury earlier this season.

Considering he has show a strong ability to feature in front of a midfield duo when he has featured, it seemed a perfect opportunity for Pochettino to throw him in and give him a chance to express himself.

The youngster didn’t get any minutes during the match at Wembley, which continued to frustrate Chelsea fans who are more than aware of his abilities right now.

They will only have been further frustrated after he was not handed a start tonight either, instead seeing just one change to the midfield and attack who started at Wembley.

This brought Mykhailo Mudryk in, and will likely have left experienced star Raheem Sterling equally frustrated that he didn’t get his own opportunity to show what he is all about.

Chukwuemeka though will no doubt be cursing his luck after starting the first two games of the season under Pochettino, with injury ruling him out for a large portion of the season moments after he opened his account for the club.
