Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is getting a lot of praise after his side’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad yesterday.
It is probably fair, with the centre-half putting in an excellent display at the back. Jamie Carragher described him as a “magnet” in the first half after he dealt with every ball.
It was Raheem Sterling, though, who scored the goal to help Chelsea earn a point. And after the game, Mauricio Pochettino shared with football.london and other media outlets how happy he was with the winger’s performance.
It was not the first time Sterling hurt his former club this season.
The 29-year-old, who left City for Chelsea in a £50m deal (BBC Sport), also scored in the 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge earlier in the campaign.

Mauricio Pochettino pleased with Raheem Sterling after Manchester City draw
Pochettino was happy with Sterling’s performance at the Etihad, particularly with his positioning and defensive contribution.
On the England international, the Argentine said: “It’s important, his experience and of course an offensive player needs to score to feel confidence and he was working really hard for the team.
“He defended well, he was always in the right position to help the team when needing to make the effort, being in a position to help the defensive line, [Ben] Chilwell. Yes, so important performance. So happy and he is helping to achieve a good point for us.”

Raheem Sterling needed that goal against his former club
That was a big goal for Sterling and hopefully it can help him to get back on the right track.
Before it, things were not going too great for him. He was left on the bench for games against Crystal Palace and Aston Villa and had not scored in the Premier League since November.
His strike against the European champions may give him a little bit of a confidence boost now, which would come at the perfect time.
Sterling faces another one of his old sides when Chelsea take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley next Sunday. There is no better time than now for him to rediscover his best form again.
