Brentford manager Thomas Frank is tipping one Chelsea player to shine at the Euros.

Chelsea have several stars competing at the tournament, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Romelu Lukaku having both played for their respective countries today.

Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Marc Cucurella, Djordje Petrovic, Armando Broja and Ian Maatsen are the other Chelsea stars who are currently in Germany.

The Blues could have easily had more had the likes of captain Reece James, Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell been called up for England, for example.

But Gareth Southgate chose to omit the trio, as well as Levi Colwill, from his squad.

Thomas Frank expecting big things from Chelsea star

The likes of Mudryk, Broja and Maatsen were unable to make much of an impact at Chelsea last season.

Broja and Maatsen ended up going out on loan, while Mudryk could only muster up five goals in the Premier League.

Even so, Frank is backing the Ukrainian to have a big tournament in Germany.

Speaking on BBC One (17/06/2024 at 13:54), the Brentford boss said: “I have big expectations for him for this tournament. He is so fast, he can go past players easily. He has unbelievable pace and abilities. He has the vision as well.

“For me, he can be the player who can carry this team. There are a lot of good players but he can be player of the tournament for Ukraine.”

Chelsea could sign Mykhailo Mudryk’s Ukraine teammate this summer

While Euro 2024 goes on, Chelsea will be focusing on bringing in new players.

They have already signed defender Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a free transfer and could sign a striker next.

It has been claimed that Chelsea hold an interest in Mudryk’s Ukraine teammate Artem Dovbyk.

The 26-year-old is thought to have a release clause between €40m (£33.8m) and €50m (£42.2m) in his contract at Girona.

Dovbyk was great for Girona last season, scoring 24 goals in 36 league outings. If he has a good Euros, maybe that could persuade Chelsea to buy him.
