In another season where Champions League football is not taking place at Chelsea, one of last night’s ties will have brought real interest to Blues supporters.
Former managers Thomas Tuchel and Maurizio Sarri squared off again in the second leg of the Round of 16, following Lazio’s win in the first leg.
Pressure was firmly on the German in particular, with it already known that he will be leaving his role at the end of the season.
He helped mastermind a turnaround last night though, securing a 3-0 win with thanks to a Harry Kane brace.
In a season where the Bundesliga looks unlikely to come their way due to Xabi Alonso’s brilliance at Bayer Leverkusen, winning the Champions League could be crucial to the German giants for the culture right now.
The match saw a number of Chelsea fans take to Twitter afterwards to voice their minds on Tuchel, as well as the current managerial position at Stamford Bridge.

A second added: “I wouldn’t recommend anyone. Just bring back Tuchel. I think all the fans miss him but we as Chelsea fans need to understand it does take time to cope up with new project. Unfortunately for this season our lack of judgment is stupid and we failed.”
Another said: “At the end of the day, both Chelsea and Bayern are two incredibly stupid clubs. Chelsea should have believed in Tuchel when things weren‘t going well and Bayern should have fulfilled his wish to buy a proper midfield. I hope his next club will believe in him and back him.”
While a number of Chelsea fans would love for their Champions League-winning manager to return to Stamford Bridge, it has already been reported that he would not be willing to work under the current ownership again.
There is a lot of pressure on Mauricio Pochettino at the helm right now, with it being claimed that those on the board are struggling to agree on what is best to do with the Argentine.
A number of names have been mentioned as reported targets, with Roberto De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim frequently coming up as those at the forefront of the thinking.
