Chelsea have reportedly made contact with Spanish giants Barcelona about signing their player this summer.
The Blues continue to be linked to several different transfer targets now that the window is open, this time it’s with a Barcelona attacker.
There’s a number of players that have represented both Chelsea and Barcelona over the years. For example, Cesc Fabregas, Pedro, Samuel Eto’o and Eidur Gudjohnsen played for both clubs in their careers.
Journalist Guillem Balague has reported via X on Friday that Chelsea have made an enquiry to Barcelona about signing their young player Marc Guiu.
It is understood that he’s available to sign for just €6m (£5m) as well.
In addition, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via X today that Chelsea and Bayern Munich are showing interest in Guiu, available to clubs with a small €6m (£5m) release clause.
Apparently, Barcelona want to keep the 18-year-old forward and are planning talks over a potential new deal.
Who is Marc Guiu?
Guiu, 18, is a youngster from the famous Barcelona academy that made his first-team breakthrough last season.
The teenage striker played seven senior matches in total and scored two goals, including one in the Champions League.
Former Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez, who coached Guiu last year, previously admitted that he’s a big fan of the young centre-forward.
Xavi said via ESPN in October: “Marc is a kid from the academy and he made the difference. I am happy for him and with the three points, which are really important.I thought of him in that moment because he is a goal scorer, he has a spark and I like him personally.”
Based on Chelsea’s transfer strategy in the last two years, this kind of deal really wouldn’t surprise anyone.
