Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been speaking ahead of his side’s match against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final this Sunday.

Liverpool beat Luton Town 4-1 in the Premier League last night and Jurgen Klopp said whether the Reds or Chelsea were the favourites for the game at Wembley in an interview with BBC Sport afterwards.

His men are flying in the English top flight right now, currently sitting at the top of the table, while their upcoming opponents are struggling.

Under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea find themselves in 10th place.

However, going into the final at Wembley, Klopp is having to deal with an injury crisis. He will definitely be without Diogo Jota and Trent Alexander-Arnold, for example.

Jurgen Klopp claims Liverpool are not favourites for Carabao Cup final

While many see Liverpool as the favourites for Sunday, Klopp is playing that tag down.

“Will we be big favourites? Definitely not,” the German said. “Since we [last] played them [Chelsea], they have improved a lot and it will be tricky.”

Chelsea being written off

Even amid Liverpool’s injury crisis, not many people are giving Chelsea a chance here, which is understandable.

The two clubs have been miles apart from each other this season and Liverpool were a class above their English rivals when they faced them last month.

The Reds won 4-1 at Anfield — it was easily one of their best performances of the campaign. However, they will be missing key players, including first-choice goalkeeper Alisson, and that really cannot be overlooked.

Chelsea’s form has picked up over the last few weeks as well, with Pochettino’s men able to hold Premier League and European champions Manchester City to a draw last weekend.

The above does not mean that the Blues should be made favourites for the game, but taking all of that into account, should they really be written off in the manner that they have? We do not think so.
