We know Conor Gallagher, 24, is an all-action central midfielder that covers every blade of grass on a football pitch.
The Blues star so often sets the press with his intelligent running off the ball.
Therefore, some may not be surprised to hear the following stat below.
WhoScored data records that Gallagher is averaging more fouls per game than any other player in the Premier League this season (2.2). He’s closely followed by Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure (2.0) and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Joao Gomes (1.9) on the podium spots.
This is based off players whose total appearances is greater than the average number of appearances in the Premier League .
Incidentally, Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo ranks seventh in the list with 1.7 fouls per game. Our only shock is that he’s not higher because he really does throw himself into challenges at times, something that his head coach Mauricio Pochettino may need to try keep a lid on.

Gallagher does really throw everything he’s got into games, so perhaps he’s guilty of the odd mistimed challenge. He’s collected six yellow cards and one red card so far this season in 36 games across all competitions.
