Colombia’s Linda Caicedo scored a stunning goal at the Women’s World Cup just days after sparking concern by collapsing in training.
Caicedo went down clutching her chest in training on Thursday, but was thankfully given the all clear.
The Real Madrid star was able to start their match against Germany on Sunday and scored a brilliant goal.
Caicedo has been one of the stories of the tournament so far.
She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer when she was just 15 and had six months of chemotherapy after surgery.
Once she was given the all clear, she was back in training and soon earned a move to Madrid.
“At the time, I didn’t think I could play professionally again because of all the treatments and surgeries I had to go through,” she told Fifa.
Caicedo was tipped to be one of the breakout stars of the tournament, but there were fears for her welfare when worrying footage showed her collapsing in training.
A Colombia spokesperson played down the fears around her health.
“Linda is very tired,” a Colombian FA medical staff member said.
“What happened was just a symptom of all the stress and physical demands. She is well and all is back to normal.”
She was well enough to play against Germany and scored the goal to put them 1-0 up.
