Napoli are now trying to get one of their stars to sign a new contract after links to Chelsea and other clubs.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia‘s current deal does not expire until 2027, but Napoli are still hoping for him to put pen to paper on a fresh contract, Fabrizio Romano has shared on Substack.
According to the transfer expert, a “dangerous situation” could develop for the Serie A champions if they cannot get Kvaratskhelia to sign a new deal because of interest from clubs in England and Barcelona.
One team who have been linked with a move for the winger this season are Chelsea.
However, their priority target for the left flank right now appears to be Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. The Blues are leading the race for his signature, one journalist has claimed.
Napoli want Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to sign new contract after Chelsea links
It makes sense for Napoli to try and tie Kvaratskhelia down to a longer deal; he is one of their most prized assets.
It seems unlikely that Chelsea will make a move for him this summer, though they may still have to be wary of interest from other clubs.

Again, the Blues seem to be prioritising Williams. However, Mauricio Pochettino will probably not complain too much if Kvaratskhelia ends up coming in instead.
The 23-year-old is a very dangerous wide man, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists in 26 Serie A appearances this season.
Kvaratskhelia is also completing 2.8 dribbles per league game, which is the highest average in Napoli’s squad (WhoScored).
Ultimately, he is not a player who the Italian side are going to want to see depart, hence their desire for him to sign a new contract. With his existing deal not up until 2027, though, they do not look to be in any immediate danger of losing the Georgia international. A sale this summer seems highly unlikely.
