Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed he has a tattoo inspired by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
The Hungary captain has joined the Reds in a £60million deal from RB Leipzig, and taken Gerrard’s legendary no.8 shirt.
The number might come with some pressure, just ask Naby Keita, but Szoboszlai has said why it was important to him.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after his signing, he revealed: “I have a tattoo from Steven Gerrard. That was a reason why.
“When I was a child, to be honest I didn’t watch that much football, but when it was Champions League, I watched and he was one of the biggest.”
According to an interview with index.hu in his home country, the tattoo is a quote from Gerrard which reads in Hungarian: “Talent is a blessing from God, but without incredible will and humility, it is worthless.”
The 22-year-old’s revelation would have thrilled plenty of fans, and he further garnered their love with some comments about Anfield.
Having previously played there with RB Salzburg in the Champions League during the 2019/20 season, the midfielder has now explained his rare feelings before his side lost 4-3.
“This time made me feel bad because we lost 4-3! But of course, I’ve said it before, I’ve almost never been nervous before the game, I think this was the first time in my life,” he said.
“Of course the stadium, the fans were unbelievable even [though] they were against us [Salzburg]. And we will see how it is when they are with me.
“I heard that it [Anfield] is going to be bigger. Of course counting the days back because it’s a really proud time to get on the pitch in Anfield as a player for Liverpool.”
