Throughout the summer transfer window, clubs do their very best to try and keep their new signings under wraps.

However, Everton fans believe the Premier League club accidentally let slip Jonny Evans is their next addition at Goodison Park.

Evans has played for Manchester United, West Brom and most recently Leicester, with Everton potentially his next club

On Thursday, it was announced that Ashley Young has joined the club from Aston Villa as their first new signing.

Given they narrowly avoided relegation once again, there’s no surprise that they’re looking to strengthen for next season.

Everton’s 57 goals conceded last term is by no means the worst record but one that can certainly be improved on.

Further experience may be needed to solidify the backline in Sean Dyche’s side to avoid another relegation scrap.

The Toffees may very well have done just that as fans believe their next addition is on his way to the club.

One supporter uploaded a now deleted Twitter video from Everton, with someone in the background appearing to say: “We’ve got Jonny Evans coming in.”

Others loved the detective work, with one user saying: “This is incredible. Gone from tracking flights to somehow picking up background noise of players names. Quality this.”

“No chance any other fan base is picking that up from a random training video. I love Everton Twitter,” added another.

A third said: “Not even seen him linked. Would be the most everton way possible for news to be leaked.”

Should he join, Evans would arrive at Everton after spending five seasons at Leicester in which he made 152 appearances.

The former Manchester United defender won the FA Cup with the Foxes, but was also part of last season’s relegated squad.

A move to Everton would therefore see the 35-year-old make a return to the Premier League as he enters the latter stages of his career.
