Fabinho’s switch from Liverpool to Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad is in danger of hitting a snag.

The Brazilian appeared set to complete a £40million move but doubts now surround the transfer.

According to The Athletic, negotiations and conversations are continuing with Al Ittihad still committed to securing the deal.

But a delay to the process means Fabinho will resume pre-season preparations with Liverpool on Wednesday.

The initial bid saw Fabinho left out of manager Jurgen Klopp’s squad for the recent summer training camp in Germany.

He is now back at the club’s training centre and will remain there unless a deal can be struck.

Fabinho has three years left on his existing deal and despite being on the cusp of a move, the Brazilian is said to have behaved impeccably throughout the process.

There were rumours that the deal could be in doubt due to a rule in Saudi Arabia that bans the breed of dogs Fabinho owns.

However, the report claims that the delays do not have any bearing on his two French Bulldogs.

Meanwhile, Fabinho’s midfield partner Jordan Henderson is a step closer to securing his move to Saudi Arabia.

The England international is set to join Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq on a three-year deal where he is expected to earn a whopping £700,000-a-week.

Henderson has undergone a medical ahead of the move that will net the Reds £12m.

Klopp is in the midst of a midfield transformation with Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner having left the club.

The Reds boss has so far managed to bring in Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton and Dominik Szoboszlai from RB Leipzig.
