Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile has found himself in the headlines again.

Benoit Badiashile was being linked with a move to AC Milan just before the January transfer window, and it looks like the Italian club are still interested in the centre-back.

It has been reported that Milan remain keen on Badiashile despite Chelsea having hope that the 23-year-old will still fulfil his potential at Stamford Bridge.

He has not been able to make too much of an impact in west London following his arrival from AS Monaco because of injuries.

This season, Badiashile has made just seven starts in the Premier League.

Fabrizio Romano gives update on Benoit Badiashile

Chelsea may very well need to make sales this summer because of profit and sustainability rules.

A bid from Milan for Badiashile could help the Blues’ financial situation, but it remains to be seen whether they would actually accept an offer for him.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Substack that Chelsea have not made any decisions about Badiashile’s future.

It is good news for anyone who does not want to see the Frenchman leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

Bad time for Chelsea to make decision on Benoit Badiashile’s future

April would not be appropriate for Chelsea to decide Badiashile’s future at the club.

They should wait to see what they can do in the transfer market and perhaps what happens with the likes of Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah.

If both of those central defenders leave Mauricio Pochettino‘s team, for example, then Badiashile should probably be kept.

The Frenchman could come in for Silva, who has mostly played at left centre-back this season, especially if Pochettino persists with his Levi Colwill at left-back experiment.

The Argentine may have to with the amount of injuries that Ben Chilwell has picked up, though Chelsea do also have Marc Cucurella to call upon.

Chelsea do not appear to be in a hurry to make a decision on Badiashile’s future and that is a good thing.
