Update on Enzo Maresca to Chelsea

Fabrizio Romano, the well-respected journalist, has provide an update on Tuesday morning about Maresca links to Chelsea.

He reported via X that the Leicester manager has “no doubts” about leaving the King Power Stadium for Stamford Bridge.

Apparently, the Italian coach has nearly agreed a contract with the Blues.

Romano states that the managerial appointment is “almost there”.

Elsewhere, The Athletic has claimed that Maresca is expected to agree a deal with Chelsea that is a minimum of five years.

What should Blues fans expect?

Unless there’s a dramatic late twist, it sounds like Maresca will be in the dugout next season as Chelsea’s latest head coach. Let’s hope the club’s hierarchy has finally found the man they can stick with as part of a long-term project!

Chelsea supporters can get a big clue about what to expect from Maresca when you examine his one year at Leicester.

In such a short space of time, Maresca transformed Leicester into a possession-based team that ended up getting over the promotion line as Championship title winners.

FBREF data records that Leicester finished the Championship season with 61.6% possession, the second most in the division behind play-off winners Southampton.

The Chelsea Chronicle expects the Blues to quickly grow into a side that dictates the ball with lots of sharp and short passes. Maresca is a former assistant coach under Pep Guardiola, something you could have guessed with the way he sets his teams up on the pitch to control matches.
