Footage has emerged of Moises Caicedo blanking a fan when quizzed on a prospective transfer to Chelsea.
Caicedo is in the United States as part of Brighton’s pre-season preparations but did not feature for the Seagulls in last weekend’s 4-3 defeat against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The Ecuadorian was signing shirts for fans in the stands when one supporter decided to try out his journalistic skills in hope of getting a scoop on his future.
The fan asked: “Moises, are you going to Chelsea?”
Despite his brave attempts of getting the lowdown on the midfielder’s future, Caicedo kept schtum and carried on his signing duties.
The silence appears to show Caicedo is not edging any closer to his dream move to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea and Brighton have been locked in discussions over the transfer but as it stands, the Blues are yet to find a breakthrough.
That is in part, due to Chelsea not matching Brighton’s asking price believed to be £100million.
However, Chelsea could make a breakthrough if they are willing to negotiate Levi Colwill’s move to the AMEX Stadium as part of the package.
The England Under-21 star spent last season on loan at Brighton and despite boss Roberto De Zerbi’s wish to keep hold of the defender permanently, Chelsea are reluctant to offload their promising star.
Chelsea have offered Colwill a new deal but the 20-year-old is yet to make up his mind on where he sees his short-term future.
De Zerbi is not against a swap deal of some kind and hinted that the club’s could do business that suits both parties.
“There are two questions. Not only about Caicedo, also about Colwill, and maybe it can be [a swap].
“I would like to play with Caicedo and Colwill together but at the moment I can only speak about Caicedo as Colwill is not one of my players.”
